Begging others for assistance did not appeal to me. What made matters worse was that I was robbed and ended up with absolutely no cash in hand as well. It was late at night and traveling back to my hotel for assistance seemed out of the question because I had nothing to pay the taxi with. Thankfully, the thieves were not interested in my credit card because they knew it would be traced to them.
With this single piece of plastic in my mind, I was in a position to quickly purchase medication that I was in urgent need of. Further, I was in a position to withdraw cash from a nearby ATM an call a cab to get back to my hotel.
Despite the fact that I had lost my identification and cash in my wallet, I still was in a position to enjoy all resources and facilities primarily because I could replenish my cash balance immediately. Further, my credit card served as proof of identity as well.
After having managed the immediate crisis which could have led to severe consequences had I not taken my medicines on time, I was in a position to file the necessary police complaints to initiate action against the offenders.
Having this credit card that I could use abroad literally saved my life. Landing up without any cash and without any assistance in a foreign country would certainly have pushed me over the edge. However, quick access to funds, even if it did not belong to me, was more than enough to manage the crisis.
This is just a simple instance that shows how a credit card in your hand can make life lot easier. It is not all about convenience only. It can actually be a lifesaving financial instrument if kept in handled and used wisely.
